Health Tid-bit: It's All About Choices
Every day we make hundreds of choices: what time do we get up, go to bed, what do we wear for the day, do we exercise, what are we going to eat, which route do we take to wherever we are going, and on and on! And each of those choices impacts our lives for good or not so good. The choice may be the difference between having a good day or a bad day. Some choices are of no consequence that we can see, I mean really, who cares if you wear the black shoes or the blue ones? But other choices will have an immediate & stressful impact, do you really want to go into debt for that large of a house? And still others will have an impact that will not usually be seen immediately, but over time will culminate in a huge difference in your life. Yes, you know what I'm talking about: your everyday lifestyle choices. I had a 23 year old tell me recently, well I've eaten that stuff my whole life and I've never been sick from it! Well, good for you - but just because you haven't been sick doesn't mean that you don't have issues brewing within! If you know something is destructive, why would you do it? If you know that repeatedly pounding your thumb with a hammer will hurt like crazy and eventually do major damage to the structure of your thumb it makes sense to find a way to use the hammer without hitting your thumb! The same way with lifestyle choices. There is plenty of scientific evidence linking the consumption of animal products, processed foods, sugar, salt, and white flour products to serious health issues and yet most people choose to ignore the evidence and continue to allow appetite to rule their food choices! Just because you choose to be ignorant about how your choices affect your health doesn't negate the affect! Whether you are choosing different foods to consume, an exercise plan to implement, eliminating something from your diet, improving your water intake or sleep schedule, or working on your attitude - all will effect your health for the positive. In the same way, when we choose to have a negative outlook on life, having a critical spirit about us, letting guilt rule our choices, smoking, drinking alcohol, not getting exercise, or eating a highly processed diet will all affect our health negatively! You have a choice. A choice to continue as the majority of Americans do and live as though your choices have no bearing on your health. Or you can choose instead to take responsibility for your choices and choose good health and lifestyle choices. On one hand you can look forward to a life of continued downward spiral towards increased incidences of sickness, disease, doctor's visits, fatigue, and just existing. Or you can choose abundant, vibrant health, energy, avoiding the doctor, and living life on your own terms not on how bad you feel. So, what's your choice going to be?
